Meet The Candidate

Zach’s family has lived in Vancouver for over 100 years, and in the beautiful community of Vancouver Granville for four generations. Small business owners, laborers and professionals handed down a strong sense of community, opportunity for the future, and a thriving city.

After completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science at UBC, Zach pursued his passion for public service by going to work for the Conservative government in Ottawa. During his time there, Zach served as a policy advisor for the Minister of National Defence, Press Secretary for the Minister of Transportation, and helped implement the Conservative Party’s vision of helping grow our middle class and increase prosperity.

At the Department of National Defence, Zach played a role in the rebuilding of the Canadian Armed Forces as Canada stood up for freedom, democracy and human rights around the world.  Working for the Minister of National Defence, Zach was honored to travel to Ukraine on numerous occasions between 2013 and 2015 to oversee the delivery of military aid to our allies in Eastern Europe.

At Transport Canada, Zach participated in overseeing safe, environmentally responsible, and efficient transportation of people and goods through our port, airport and rail system.  Zach was the Transport Minister's Spokesman in 2015, shortly after the Lac Megantic Rail tragedy in Quebec, in which the department overhauled all Rail regulations.

Zach currently works with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) in Vancouver, giving him unique insight into one of the most important issues facing this city - housing.  To   demonstrate his commitment to this important political cause, he is on an indefinite leave of absence from CMHC.

Zach holds a Bachelor’s of Arts from the University of British Columbia, and a Master’s of Arts in International Relations from the University of London's School of Oriental and African... Read Bio
